About SoloSage

SoloSage is for solo agers — people growing older without a spouse or children close enough to lean on for day-to-day support. By AARP's estimates, that's roughly one in three Americans aged 55–74, and closer to half of those 75 and older.

Almost everything written about aging assumes someone else is coordinating: a spouse, an adult child, a family caregiver. Solo agers are often left to translate generic advice into a plan that actually fits their situation — usually while managing the anxiety of not knowing who'd notice if something went wrong.

Our approach

We write for capable adults who want straight information, not a script written for someone else's family. We link to primary sources where it matters (state law, government programs, established nonprofits) and we say plainly when something is a personal judgment call rather than a hard rule.

SoloSage is not a law firm, a financial advisory, or a medical provider. Nothing on this site is legal, medical, or financial advice for your specific situation — for that, talk to a licensed professional in your state.

Who's behind this

SoloSage is an independent publication supported by reader-friendly advertising and select affiliate partnerships. Recommendations are based on genuine usefulness to solo agers, not the highest commission. Full details are in our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.
